Multidisciplinary designer drawn to complex problems where people, information, processes and digital touchpoints intersect. My work spans digital services, UX and communication, using systems thinking and practical design methods to make complex experiences clearer, more coherent and easier to navigate.
A selection of projects showing how I approach different kinds of design problems: from connected digital systems and professional services to narrative and communication.
An inquisitive mind, a desire to improve. At the heart of design is a belief that things can and should be better. From the services we use to the products we touch, design impacts us all. It is therefore vital that we ask the right questions: what is driving the request, what sits behind it, and whether the problem being presented is actually the one that needs solving.
Experience has taught me that the best response is rarely obvious, and that research, questioning and surfacing different experiences, journeys and connections can reveal opportunities that are easily missed. I believe in challenging assumptions, stress-testing decisions and being willing to let go of ideas when the evidence points elsewhere. I value structure for the focus and momentum it brings, but not rigidity. Better questions, new evidence and different perspectives should always be able to change the direction.
Curiosity is an important part of how I work. I enjoy exploring unfamiliar territory and conversations that bring different perspectives into the room. Keeping people at the centre of a service or product helps guide better decisions and create clearer, more useful and more robust outcomes.
Start with people and purpose
I look beyond the requested output to understand what people are trying to achieve and what the work actually needs to do.
Connect the wider picture
I look for patterns across information, touchpoints, teams and processes, so decisions work together rather than in isolation.
Experience through delivery
More than twenty years in design has taught me to balance ideas with constraints, carry work through implementation and learn from what happens in use.
